Featuring supermodel and talk show host Tyra Banks, America’s Next Top Model showcases approximately a dozen young women competing for a modeling contract. The show which premiered in 2003, has a series of modeling and related challenges that serve to winnow out the less capable, less willing or less motivated candidates. While beauty and photogenic qualities are prized, the judges seem unwilling to reward difficult divas. At times Tyra scolds and shames the errant beauties during the elimination process. Helped by a panel of experts, Tyra reviews photo shoot results and reveals the survivors of each challenge by handing out their photos at the end of each show.
The current season, called Cycle 11, has runway coach J. Alexander returning as one of the judges. He is joined by famed photographer Nigel Barker who is back for his 11th season. Also on the panel is international supermodel and actress Paulina Porizkova and international beauty and fashion expert Jay Manuel. Past winners include: Adrianne Curry, Yoanna House, Eva Pigford, Naima Mora, Nicole Linkletter, Danielle Evans, CariDee English and Whitney Thompson.
