Bower Awards (Franklin Institute)

The Bower Awards are awarded by the Franklin Institute. They were established in 1988 by Henry Bower, a chemical manufacturer who donated $9 million to the Institute.  The Bower Award for Achievement in Science provides a cash prize of at least $250,000. The Bower Award for Business Leadership rewards “outstanding leadership in American business or industry, promoting the advancement of sound economic practice and adherence to the highest ethical standards, and serving as an inspiration to present and future leaders of business and industry.”
Winners of the Bower Award for Business include Ted Turner and David Packard.
