Hosted by mogul Donald Trump, The Apprentice represents the quick shot at the American dream. Contestants with different social backgrounds, educational accomplishments and career choices compete for the opportunity to work for a $250,000 salary in one of Trump’s businesses.
Each week the two teams face a challenge. The team has a project leader who is given responsibility for planning the strategy and delegating tasks. When successful, the group is allowed to continue on to the next week. When unsuccessful, the project manager chooses those most culpable and they face the prospect of dismissal in the infamous boardroom.
Although Trump ultimately decides who will stay and who will go, he is assisted in the process by his advisors who have witnessed the events of the challenge. Sometimes the advisors are members of Trump’s corporation and at times he draws on members of his family. Trump deliberates with the advisors and then has the contestants return to the boardroom where he offers his verdict of, “You’re fired.”
Those who have heard the phrase, “You’re hired” include: Bill Rancic, Kelly Perdew, Kendra Todd, Randal Pinkett, Sean Yazbeck and Stefani Schaeffer.
